Steve Ladd, Union City Public Works director, reminds city residents that limb and brush crews only pick up trees, limbs and brush for residents who have cut and placed the debris curbside themselves. The city crews do not pick up for contractors. Contractors who cut down trees for city residents are required to haul away all debris they were hired to cut by the resident.
An ordinance is also in effect prohibiting the raking, sweeping or dumping of leaves, grass clippings and other yard debris into storm drains, curbs or gutters. Such actions could cause the city’s storm sewerage system to back up, resulting in the flooding of city streets.
