Truett Jones, 91, of Martin died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at the Weakley County Rehab & Nursing Center in Dresden.
Services were held at 11 a.m. today (Thursday) at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Martin with Rev. David Brown and Rev. Houston Patrick officiating. Burial was in East Side Cemetery in Martin.
Wendell Alexander, Marvin Alexander, Vernon Prather, Ray Stephenson, Dan Garner, Jackie Reese, Jimmy Westbrook and Dannie Harris served as pallbearers.
Jones was born April 26, 1920, in Latham, son of the late William Wayne and Lizzie Brundige Jones. He was the widower of Harriet Rawls Jones. He was a graduate of Martin High School. He was a World War II United States Army veteran. He was a former director at City State Bank, formerly owned and operated Jones & Sons Funeral Home, was a Certified Public Accountant and owned Jones Accounting.
Survivors include one son, Richard R. Jones of Dresden; and two caregivers, Linda Bowers of Martin and Willena Roberts of Dresden.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ruva Haliburton, Wilma Richardson and Garrnett Mealier.
