There will be a lot of blue in UT Martin’s future.
UTM’s football team will be making road trips to Memphis, Boise, Idaho, and Lexington, Ky., in the next few years to play teams that wear — and, for one team, play on — that color.
The Skyhawks will open its 2012 season against the University of Memphis on Sept. 1 as the program continues its run of “money” games.
Getting a check to make a road trip will also include games against Boise State, home of the blue turf, on Sept. 21, 2013, and Kentucky on Sept. 13, 2014.
UTM will also have non-conference road games against Northern Illinois (Sept. 8, 2012), UT Chattanooga (Aug. 29, 2013) and Central Arkansas (Sept. 6, 2014). The Skyhawks will host Southeast Louisiana (Sept. 13, 2012), Central Arkansas (Sept. 14, 2013) and UT Chattanooga (Nov. 8, 2014).
Central Arkansas has its own unique field look as the artificial surface alternates between purple and gray.
UT Martin has schedules for the next three years basically completed with one open date in 2012 and 2014 and two open dates in 2013. Much of the Ohio Valley Conference schedule has been set in both 2015 and 2016 as well.
