A house, which caught fire last week on Jackson Street in Martin, was also the target of an alleged aggravated burglary.
According to an incident report, the department was called to 513 Jackson St. Feb. 5, several hours after the structure at that location caught fire.
The victims told officers they had to go to a friend’s house after their home caught fire due to the extent of damage to their home. When they returned to their house on Jackson Street, the victims told officers jewelry was missing from the bedroom of the home. Missing from the home were two gold necklaces, a silver Pandora bracelet and other pieces of jewelry. The couple also told officers they noticed the bedroom window had been raised, although it was apparently shut the night before.
The estimated value of the jewelry taken is $1,200.
The incident remains under investigation by the MPD.
