Titan adds supply contract for tires with Caterpillar | | Posted: Monday, February 20, 2012 10:00 pm
| Titan Tire Corporation, a subsidiary of Titan International Inc., has announced a multi-year supply contract with Caterpillar for tires. Titan has agreed to supply OTR tires to Caterpillar under a three-year agreement starting in 2012, according to a news release posted on the company’s website. The value of the contract is expected to exceed $100 million. Titan Tire bought the former Goodyear plant in Union City in November 2011. The $9 million acquisition formally ended the Goodyear era in Obion County and ushered in a new tire manafacturer in Titan Tire. Titan Tire chairman Bill Campbell told The Messenger earlier this month the tire plant is being developed as a “condo factory.” He estimated about 300 jobs will be created at the plant by the end of this year. The recent Caterpillar announcement comes as good news for Titan Tire. “Titan is honored to work with Caterpillar and we look forward to supplying tires in support of Caterpillar equipment,” Titan International Chairman and CEO Maurice Taylor said. Titan International Inc., a holding company headquartered in Quincy, Ill., owns subsidiaries that supply wheels, tires and assemblies for off-highway equipment used in agricultural, earthmoving/construction and consumer (including all terrain vehicles) applications.
