Springtime pageant slated for March 10 in Ripley Posted: Friday, February 17, 2012 8:01 pm The Messenger 02.17.12 The third annual Mr. and Miss King and Queen of Springtime Pageant is set for March 10 at Ripley High School. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and pageants will start at 11. The pageant — sponsored by Lauderdale County’s University of Tennessee Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Department — is a preliminary for the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival and queens from age groups 6-9 and older will qualify. Winners from each group will include queen and first, second and third maids, with the boys’ age groups to include a king and first page. Free side categories will include Flair for Fashion, Best Hair and Best Smile. The age divisions and starting times for girls include: 0-12 months, 11 a.m.; 13-24 months, noon; 2-3 years, 2 p.m.; 4-5 years, 2:30 p.m.; 6-9 years, 3 p.m.; 10-12 years, 3:30 p.m.; 13-15 years, 4 p.m.; and 16-21 years, 4:30 p.m. The divisions and times for boys include: 0-12 months, 11:30 a.m.; 13-23 months, 12:30 p.m.; and 2-4 years, 1:30 p.m. Age division starting times are approximate, but no age group will begin before the stated time, a spokesman said. Queens in the 13-15 age and 16-21 age groups will also win $50 on site. A professional photographer will be available. The entry fee is $30 in advance or $40 at the door, which includes beauty and three free side categories. An additional category of Most Photogenic is available for $5 extra and a photo must be submitted on pageant day. There is a sibling discount which will allow for registration payment for the first child at regular price and $5 off for each additional sibling registered.
