Weakley County Nursing and Rehab news – 2.14.12 Posted: Thursday, February 16, 2012 3:54 pm By: Brittany Rich, Activity Director The residents have been taking advantage of the warmer weather by sitting on the front porch. They have also been busy with the many visitors and volunteers that have been in the facility. Everyone is starting to get ready for Valentine’s Day. Our married couples have been invited to the annual lunch held in their honor Tuesday. We ask that they RSVP so we can have plenty of private tables set. The rest of the residents will be enjoying a special lunch and a facility wide party that afternoon. This week’s Cover Card winners were Joyce Gatewood, Joyce Bryant, Lillian Melton, Geraldine Damron, Leola Rawls and Mary Clark. This week’s one-line bingo was sponsored by the employees of Bancorp South of Dresden. They provided the quarters for our bingo where each player received 50 cents for playing. Thank you all so much for your kindness. The residents also played “The Price Is Right” on Tuesday morning. The ones who guess the closest to the product’s actual price wins the item. The winners were Geraldine Damron, Mary Clark, Doris Bradberry, Dorothy Farrar and Sue Bailey. These lucky ladies left with some great prizes. The sports competitions were close again this week. Bobby Bynum had an incredible score of 800 points at velcro ball. His runner-up was Ray Crowell with a score of 725. Mag Yeargin was the winner of shuffleboard with 270 points. Ray placed at second again with 245. The residents also participated in handswatter and balloon volleyball. These two games are non-competitive, but still tons of fun. We had two special activities with treats this week. The January birthday party was held Jan. 31. The residents enjoyed white cake with white icing topped with chocolate ganache. For Friday’s social hour, the residents picked hot chocolate. They also received iced sugar cookies. Bill Brewer was with the residents for his fourth Saturday singing. He did a wonderful job. Kenny Presley was with us for a big show. He brought along a few friends to help fill the two-hour performance. He did a great job and the residents loved the show. Macedonia Church of Christ, Liberty Church of Christ and Dresden First Baptist Church provided our Sunday morning services. They always do a wonderful job and we appreciate their continued devotion to our residents. New Salem Baptist Church was with us on Monday evening. The residents were delighted to have them with us. Freeman’s Chapel Methodist Church was with us for the Sunday afternoon service. They always do a remarkable job. Finishing off Sunday was the Bethel youth group. They do a wonderful job praising in song with their beautiful voices. WCP 2.14.12 |
