KEEP TENNESSEE LITTER FREE –  “Why is Tennessee litter free? Because of you and me,” is the message Jerry White sent to the students of Martin Primary School Thursday.  White performs his magic show for children in schools all over the state every year. The Tennessee Litter Grant Program sponsors the show.  “I started doing this in my home, Marion County, 15 years ago and it just expanded to other counties through the years,” said White. “Every year we write a new magic show but with the same message.” This year, the show included a crowd favorite where he added water to a box and from the box appeared a live puppy. White encouraged the students to change their attitude of how they viewed their front yard. He approached them by stating “my house, my yard, my earth,” helping the children understand that the earth is their yard. Weakley County Mayor Houston Patrick was among those in attendance, representing Weakley County government.  “He did such a wonderful job in the short period of time he had to do it,” said Patrick. The magic show for the litter grant program was also performed in every elementary school in the county reaching out to an estimated 2,000 students in Weakley County.
