Frances Christine “Chris” Denson, 79, of Pewaukee, Wis., formerly of Rives, died Feb. 8, 2012, in a hospice in Wisconsin.
Services will be 7 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of West Allis, Wis., with interment following Saturday at 10 a.m. at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin, Wis.
Friends may call at the church 3-6:45 p.m. Friday. Church and Chapel Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or the Zoological Society (www.zoosociety.org).
She was born April 27, 1932, in Tennessee, daughter of the late Briley and Della Hime. She was the widow of James A. Denson, whom she married Sept. 2, 1950. The couple moved to Wisconsin in 1953 and had enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Denson was secretary at Holy Trinity Church for 19 years and she volunteered for the Zoological Society of Milwaukee, working from home when she was no longer able to travel to the zoo.
She is survived by five sons, James O. Denson, Dennis Denson, John Denson, Bill Denson and David Denson; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy Taylor of Union City and Virginia Hopper of Oakland; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Hime and James Hime; and her sister, Betty Milner.
