Tourneys at mercy of winter

Tourneys at mercy of winter

The threat of winter weather has a couple of district basketball tournaments in holding patterns.
As of press time, the Halls at Union City District 14A girls’ game had been postponed due to dicey forecast that has some form of frozen precipitation starting around mid-afternoon.
The game will instead be played on Tuesday — sometime.
Right now, it’s been set for 5 p.m., before the South Fulton boys play at UC in another satellite site tourney game. That contest has been moved to 7 p.m. — back 30 minutes from its originally-set start time.
The other three District 14A games were still on as of press time. Tournament director Willie Trevathan of Greenfield said, though, the entire first night could be postponed, moving the girls, first round until Tuesday, and the boys until Wednesday. Wednesday night had been scheduled as an off-night in the original brackets.
The District 13AA Tournament has been moved back one day, the girls’ quarterfinals now on Tuesday and the boys’ on Wednesday.
Obion Central is set to host a pair of girls, quarterfinal games.
Now, the Lady Rebels will play Ripley at 6:30 p.m., while Westview and Gibson County meet at 8 Tuesday.
OC’s boys will play at Westview 8 p.m. Wednesday, following the Haywood-Crockett County game.
