Professional wrestling will debut in downtown Union City this Saturday.
David and Becky Biro are introducing NWA Warriors of Wrestling Federation in the commercial building at 308 South First St.
The Biros are the owners of the wrestling group, which is being managed by Alvin Minnick and Glenn Shelton.
The doors to the new wrestling venue will open at 6: 30 p.m. each Saturday and the bell will ring at 7:30 p.m. to start the matches. Tickets to the matches are $7 each
“We are bringing weekly professional wrestling events to Union City,” Biro said. “These events are sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance, the oldest and most respected wrestling alliance in the world.”
He said the NWA Warriors of Wrestling will be showcasing young and upcoming wrestling talent as well as current wrestling superstars and legends.
“We present a family event,” Biro said.
Current and retired military personnel will receive discounted tickets to all the matches.
The new wrestling organization has been promoting its opening night with fliers that have been distributed throughout the area.
Opening night will feature an NWA Southern Title match pitting Drew Haskins against Dyron Flynn.
Also on opening night there will be a special challenge match with the “Golden Boy” Greg Anthony going up against international wrestling superstar Matt Murphy. Anthony will be joined by his manager, Brian Thompson, at ringside.
In a ladies match that night, Stacie O’Brien will compete against Rebecca Raze and other wrestlers scheduled to appear on the opening night card include Bull Bronson, Brad Badd and Jack Gamble.
Wrestling fans will also have the opportunity to meet former WCW and NWA superstar “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton and “3G” Eric Wayne on Saturday night.
All the matches will be announced by Lloyd Moore.
Wrestling fans will have access to a full-menu snack bar and there will be vendors set up during the matches selling wrestling and other sports items.
“There will be ticket give-a-ways at every event,” Biro said.
The telephone number for the NWA Warriors of Wrestling Federation is 442-1130.
