UTM to host guest pianists

Guest pianists Jung-Won Shin, BoWon Hong and Jungwon Anne Shin will perform in an ensemble program at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 16, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Martin. The concert is sponsored by the University of Tennessee Department of Music.
The performers will present Rachmaninoff’s “Fantasy, Op. 5” for two pianos; Debussy’s “Petite Suite” for one piano, four hands; Saint-Saëns “Danse Macabre” for two pianos; and Poulenc’s “Sonata” for four hands.
Jung-Won Shin, assistant professor of piano at Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss., earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Music from Indiana University, and a Bachelor of Music from Seoul National University in South Korea.
Her collaborative CDs, “Franck and Fauré Sonatas,” with violinist Sue-Jean Park of Murray State University, and “Chansons de la Nuit,” with soprano Amy Yeung, of UT Martin, have recently been released in the U.S.
Hong is a faculty member at Dong-A University in Busan, South Korea, and is a member of Piano Harmonia, an active piano ensemble group in South Korea. She received both her master’s and doctoral degrees in musical arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has been frequently featured at concerts hosted by the Chopin Society and the Liszt Society in South Korea.
Jungwon Anne Shin earned her doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. She has been a soloist with the Daejon Philharmonic, Prime Philharmonic, Janacek Chamber, Eurasian Philharmonic and Rumanian State Orchestras. She is also a member of Piano Harmonia in South Korea and currently teaches in Basking Ridge, N.J.  Trinity Presbyterian Church is located at 145 Hannings Lane in Martin.
