UCHS grad honored with Navy Award

DAHLGREN, Va. – Dawn (Francis) Murphy, a 1978 graduate of Union City High School, was honored with the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division Annual Honor Awards Ceremony recently.
Mrs. Murphy, daughter of Gary and Helen Francis of Union City, was recognized for her leadership and oversight that established the framework for a successful Enterprise Resource Planning deployment at NSWCDD.
Navy ERP is an integrated business management system that updates and standardizes Navy business operations, provides financial transparency and total asset visibility across the enterprise, and increases effectiveness and efficiency.
“This project was truly a team effort and I had a great team working with me to make ERP so successful,” said Mrs. Murphy, NSWCDD’s ERP program manager and site implementation lead.
“Mrs. Murphy led the command through many leadership, programmatic and technical hurdles always with astounding patience and professionalism,” according to the citation, which was read before a capacity crowd at the University of Mary Washington Dahlgren campus.
“The stature and reputation of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, have been greatly enhanced by the professionalism, skill, perseverance and creativity that Dawn Murphy brings to every challenge set before her.”
Mrs. Murphy earned a bachelor of science degree in Computer Science from Tennessee Technological University in 1982.
She currently resides in Virginia and has been employed with NSWCDD for 28 years. Published in The Messenger 2.8.12
