Charles Layton Cole, 88, of Dyersburg died Feb. 6, 2012, at Humboldt General Hospital. He was the father of Bobby Cole of Hornbeak.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Revs. Tom Pirtle and Don Layman officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Hornbeak. Pallbearers will be Jerry Patton, Joe Elmore, James Climer, Winfred Allen, Mark Lindsey and Brad Lindsey.
The family will receive visitors from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
He was a retired factory worker for Colonial Rubber, a member of Ft. Hudson Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having received the Purple Heart.
Survivors also include his wife, Flossie (Fincher) Cole of Dyersburg; another son, William Dale Cole of Missouri; two step-daughters, Carolyn Allen of Humboldt and Loretta Williams of Dyersburg; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Wanda Gail Cole and Deborah Cole; his first wife, Thelma Cole; his parents, William and Mozell (Whitehead) Cole; and his sister, Helen King.
