The West Tennessee Writing Project (WTWP), sponsored by the University of Tennessee at Martin, will offer four Young Writers’ Clubhouses across West Tennessee this February and March.
The program gives third-through eighth-graders a chance to write creatively under the guidance of experienced WTWP teacher-consultants.
“Thanks to the dedicated teacher-leaders of the program, more students are writing in West Tennessee in a variety of genres,” said WTWP director David Carithers.
“They have fun while building important literacy skills that will help them in their classrooms and beyond.”
The spring schedule for the worshops includes the following:
• Feb. 18, UT Martin Ripley Center: “Extra! Extra! Write All About It!” (newspapers in the making)
• Feb. 25, UT Martin (Gooch Hall): “Hunting for Mysteries: A Scavenger Hunt”
• Feb. 25, St. Mary’s Catholic School in Jackson: “Digital Storytelling”
• March 10, UT Martin Parsons Center: “Fantastic Futuristic Fairytales”
Registration is $35 per session or two sessions for $60.
