State audit reveals no findings in county | | Posted: Thursday, February 2, 2012 10:50 am
| In a report issued by the state’s Comptroller of the Treasury department Monday, Weakley County fared well with no findings. The basic financial statements of the county for the year ending June 30, 2011, were a part of the Comptroller’s audit report. While the county did not have an Audit Committee by June 30, 2011, it was recommended as a best practice that a committee be adopted by a governing body to assist the county commission by providing independent and objective reviews of the financial reporting process, internal controls, the audit function and be responsible for monitoring management’s plans to address various tasks. Heeding the advice, Weakley County adopted an Audit Committee Nov. 21, 2011. WCP 1.31.12 | | | |
