Stanley “Odie” Kemp, 57, of Paris died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at his residence.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at LaDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris with Mitch Flacus and Mike Wimberley officiating. Burial was in Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove.
Jim Bo French, Brian Ray French, Mark Bullion, Skip Lemonds, Michael McClain and Mike Bennett served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the E-Z Rodders Car Club, Keith Martin, Gilbert Hastings and Bill Dodd.
Kemp was born Nov. 17, 1954 in Paris, son of the late Odie Jr. and Ruth Atkins Kemp. He was a foreman with Paris Natural Gas Company for 21 years. He was a member of E-Z Rodders Car Club, a member of Paris Moose Lodge and a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle and his 1946 Chevy truck.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Mrs. Judy Hosford Kemp of Paris; one daughter, Jennifer Scarborough of Paris; two sons, Jackey (Dawn) Sanders of Hampton, Va. and Jason (Susan) Sanders of Paris; one sister, Wanda (Jeff) Muse of Paris; three sisters-in-law, Ruthie Linsman, Kathy Petty and Vickie Beauvais, all of Paris; one brother-in-law, Richard Hosford of Florida; five grandchildren, Bryan Clayton, Secret Scarborough, Dakota Sanders, Tara Scott, all of Paris and Tyler Sanders of Hampton, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Lisa Kemp.
