 Marcus Bright, WHS graduate | | | A Martin native and graduate of Westview High School will come home to present a black history program at Fuller Street Baptist Church in Dresden. Marcus Bright is a 2002 graduate of WHS. Upon graduating, Bright went on to the University of Tampa, Fla., where he received his bachelor’s degree in government and world affairs. He later earned a master’s degree in public administration from Florida International University. Bright is scheduled to complete his P.h. D. in public administration later this year from Florida Atlantic University, where he also serves as the president of the Doctoral Student Association. He also serves as an instructor of public administration at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and as an academic coordinator for athletes at Florida International University in Miami. Fuller Street Baptist Church of Dresden hosts an annual black history program in February. The theme for the this year’s program is “Bridging the Gap from the Past to the Future.” A second Westview High School graduate will serve as master of ceremonies for the event. Justin Harrell of Nashville will MC the black history program. Harrell is a 2002 WHS graduate who moved on to play football for the University of Tennessee at Knoxville Volunteers and most recently played football for NFL’s Green Bay Packers. Louis Davis, a 2002 Westview High School graduate who currently resides in Knoxville will serve as guest soloist for the event. A group of community members who make up the Black History Choir will also provide entertainment. The program is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Feb. 19 at Fuller Street Baptist Church, located at 110 Park St., Dresden. The public is invited to attend. WCP 1.31.12 | | | |
