MTSU gets land donation for use as field laboratory Posted: Wednesday, February 1, 2012 6:20 pm By: By The Associated Press The Messenger 02.01.12 MURFREESBORO (AP) — The Harpeth Wetland Bank has donated about 220 acres of rural property in Rutherford County to Middle Tennessee State University. The land in the Rockvale community, about a 20-minute drive from campus, will be used as an environmental field laboratory for programs in biology, environmental science, botany, conservation and other sciences. School spokesmen said it will provide a unique research center for projects and activities. It might also be used for recreation. The site has been revegetated and reforested to complement native plants on the property. , |
