Gleason effort enough only for split

Gleason’s girls played a good game. The Bulldogs had two bad quarters.
The Lady ’Dogs put away Bruceton 55-10 in the opening game of Friday night’s District 13A doubleheader. Gleason could not get the sweep, however, as offensive lapses in the first and third quarters resulted in a 68-46 loss.
Gleason will be at home tonight for a pair of league and county matchups, hosting Dresden.

The Lady Bulldogs limited Bruceton to single digits in points in all four quarters in rolling to the league win.
Gleason’s 17-5 lead after one period proved to be Bruceton’s highest-scoring quarter.
The Lady Bulldog lead was 24-7 at the half and 46-8 at the end of three quarters.
Two Gleason players outscored Bruceton’s team as Emily Bell topped all players with 12 points and Jaclyn Montgomery added 11 points.
Montgomery hit three 3-pointers.
B’ton 68, Gleason 46 (B)
The Bulldogs were outscored 22-7 in the first period and 20-6 in the third, a gap large enough to far outdo Gleason in the second and fourth frames.
Gleason trailed 28-17 at the half and finished with a 23-20 advantage over the final eight minutes.
Alex Hahn was Gleason’s only player in double figures with 14 points.
