NASHVILLE (AP) — A Nashville Ballet official says setting recognizable stories to dance helps even young children learn about the communicative power of dance.
Sharyn Mahoney, the ballet’s director of artistic operations, said Sunday’s “Aesop’s Fables” children’s ballet exposed new audiences to the classic art form.
The stories of “The Tortoise and the Hare,” “The Fox and the Crow,” “The Wind and the Sun” and “The Ants and the Grasshopper” are woven together with an original narrative.
The original score was composed by Paul Goodwin, professor emeritus at the Belmont University School of Music.
The ballet, presented in partnership with Belmont, was performed at the school’s Massey Concert Hall.
