The Ned McWherter Room at the Dresden Public Library was the setting for a recent meeting of the James Buckley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Regent Emily Shore called the meeting to order and then led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. flag. Ms. Shore and Marilucile Counce led in the DAR ritual.
Ms. Shore handed out a program with all the state’s upcoming meetings. The group elected members for delegates to the state convention in Nashville during March and April. They were Emily Shore, Mary Vowell, Mary Dunavant and Marie Baddour.
A new DAR member, Tina Doss Smith from Illinois, joined the chapter as an associate member.
The meeting was adjourned and Ms. Shore introduced the speaker, Barbara Castleman, head of the Weakley County Election Administration. The topic of the program was the difference between the primary election and the general election. Another topic was the photo I.D. requirement for 2012 voting in elections.
After the program, the members went to the Kozy Korner for their Christmas luncheon.
