Devils can’t reach
Lake County’s level

South Fulton was simply in over its head against a pair of state-ranked Lake County teams Tuesday.
The No. 1 Lake County girls built a commanding 19-point halftime lead and then coasted to a 58-46 triumph, before the eighth-ranked and reigning Class A state champion Falcon boys thrashed SF 77-48 in the nightcap.
The loss was the third straight for the Devilettes (13-8, 6-5), who were again without leading scorer Talleah Cross, who sat with an eye injury suffered vs. Union City.
Melanie Johnson had 10 points, Kalon Martin eight and seven rebounds, and Sydney Easterwood seven points for SF.
Lake County improved to 22-3.
The Falcons blew out the Devil boys in the second half, outscoring them 42-21 over the final two periods to pull into a first-place tie with Union City in the 14A standings.
Jordan Davis had 13 points and six rebounds for South Fulton (9-12, 3-8), while Keshawn McManus tallied eight points.

Quick tourney end
for Jr. Twisters

The Union City Middle School boys saw their season come to an end with a 44-41 loss to Humboldt in the West Tennessee Athletic Conference Tournament Tuesday.
The Jr. Tornadoes end the year with a 9-7 mark.
Willaevion Burton had 15 points and Joe Wiggins 10 in UC’s year-ending setback.
Humboldt outscored the Twisters 14-11 in the fourth quarter to break a 30-all tie.
