The cold temperatures didn’t stop Weakley County Chamber of Commerce members from welcoming its newest member to their organization.
The Whispering Tree in Martin held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday.
Chamber executive director Barbara Virgin began the day by stating, “We’re all a big family, and this is part of our family now. We wish you much success.”
Chamber president Jake Bynum was on hand for the event, presenting owners Joe and Lori Morrow with their membership plaque.
After the Morrows were introduced, Martin Mayor Randy Brundige weighed in by saying, “It’s always great to have a new business open, especially something that is needed in our community.
“We are glad to have you here,” Brundige added.
The Leadership Weakley County group was also among those in attendance.
The Morrows said they felt it was important to become a part of the Chamber of Commerce and are looking forward to building relationships among citizens of the Weakley County area even more.
“The support we have got from this community has been really wonderful.” explained Morrow.
“We felt that joining the chamber was a necessity and that if we are going to have a business here, we needed to be involved in the community even more. We love Martin and what this community has meant to our family.”
The next scheduled ribbon cutting ceremony for the chamber will be at the new Continental Loans location inside University Plaza Feb. 2 at 9 a.m.
