Phyllis Rogers is enjoying her position as the manager of the new Shoe Shack store in Union City’s County Marketplace shopping center.
Shoe Shack recently opened in Suite 264 of the Reelfoot Avenue shopping center and is open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
The store is owned by Bennie Castleman and his son, Bryan Castleman.
In addition to Mrs. Rogers, other employees at the store include Kendra Jackman, Krista Tackett, Courtney Craddock and Brooke Huggins.
“We are a full-service comfort shoe and boot store for the entire family,” Ms. Rogers said. “We sell everything from Crocs™ to flops to work boot, western boots and name brand comfort shoes.”
Ms. Rogers said the Shoe Shack store has a wide selection of footwear, and she said the store’s western boot and work boot selection “is one that you will not find outside the big cities.”
She explained the store is able to be very competitive with its pricing because a large percentage of its business is done online through the store’s website, www.shoeshackonline.com, and through industrial business accounts.
Shoe Shack carries more than 60 name brand shoes and boots and many new lines are scheduled to arrive at the store this spring. Among the brands carried at the local store are Dansko, Ecco, Merrell, Chaco and Sanuk.
The store also offers no-charge special orders for customers. A customer can special order shoes and try them on in the store without being obligated to buy the shoes.
The telephone number for the local Shoe Shack is 885-7677.
Shoe Shack was started in Martin as a retail/mail-order boot company in 1981 by the elder Castleman. Prior to going into business, he was a basketball coach in Obion County from 1974 to 1978. Castleman’s stores employ a total of 17 workers.
