Evelyn (Long) Quarles, 100, of Union City died Jan. 20, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Union City.
Services were 2:30 p.m. Sunday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stan Waldon officiating. Burial followed in East View Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Baxter Sharp, David Johnson, Randy Chapman, John Miles, Rob Joyner and Danny Bryant. Honorary pallbearers were members of Group Three of United Methodist Women at Union City First United Methodist Church.
The family requests that memorials be made to the church.
She was born Oct. 26, 1911, in Union City, daughter of the late Dr. Edward Marion and Anna Mai (Sharp) Long. She married Dave Quarles Nov. 27, 1941. He died Aug. 25, 1977. She had been a hotel secretary for many years, in partnership with her husband who managed the businesses, and she was a lifetime member of Union City First United Methodist Church and the Margaret Carter Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Daughters of the American Colonists. She was a 1929 graduate of Union City High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University.
She is survived by several cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Elise Long; and her brother, Jimmy Long.
