Jerry Mac Moss, 72, of Union City died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Martin with Rev. Jerry Leggett officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at the funeral home.
Mike Moss, Johnny Hatchel, Mark Hatchel, David Hatchel, Jeremy Moss and Chad Daniels will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Russell Lay.
Moss was born July 25, 1939, in Union City, son of the late Jesse Malcom and Nora Pearl Reese Moss. He was a graduate of Rives High School. He was the widower of Reba Moss. He was a truck driver for Reelfoot Packing Co. for 21 years and for Akin & Porter Product Inc. for 24 years.
Survivors include his first wife, Shirley Moss of Martin; one son, Mike (Jantzen) Moss of Martin; one stepson, Russell Lay of Dyer; two daughters, Teresa (Johnny) Hatchel of Martin and Lisa Grogan of Union City; one sister, Martha Powell of Gallatin; seven grandchildren, Mark (Jennifer) Hatchel of Kingsland, Ga., David Hatchel, Madison Moss, MaKayla Moss and Jeremy Moss, all of Martin, Candi Daniels of Nashville, Chad (Charity) Daniels of Troy; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Hatchel of Kingsland and Bryce Daniels of Troy; and three step grandchildren, Allison Lay, Emily Lay and Paige Lay, all of Dyer.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Alice Newton; and one grandchild, MaKenzie Joyce Moss.
