The 20th Century of Martin met Friday afternoon at the Weldon Public Library. The president Jay Adams welcomed everyone and wished us a great winter. She announced that the oldest member had passed away that week. Virginia Parrish was 99 years old and we were blessed to have known her. The hostesses were Rebecca Shelton and Jeanette Breeden. They had decorated the tables for winter with a collection of snow people and served a delicious dessert plate appropriate for the snowy day. The president led us in “The Collect.” We had a fantastic speaker introduced by Sara Siber- a friend of hers for many years. Our speaker, Anne Clark from UTM, spoke to us on her travels and interest in the Lewis and Clark expedition. It was an awesome afternoon listening to someone who really had studied the travels of Lewis and Clark and traveled where they had been. We learned that Jefferson was sent a live prairie dog that arrived live in Washington. That day was a great treat; thank you to Anne Clark for the afternoon.
