Union City’s spot in the upcoming middle school boys Small Area Tournament is set … almost.
The junior Golden Tornadoes will be in action on Tuesday as either the third or fourth seed. UC’s seeding in the bracket will not be known until the outcome of Saturday afternoon’s games at Lake County.
A win puts Union City in the third slot against host school and sixth seed Northview at 7:30 p.m. Should UC lose, however, then the Twisters will fall to the fourth seed and play No. 5 Humboldt at 6 p.m.
Three Oaks is the top seed and has a first-round bye. The second seed is also undetermined.
The semifinals will be played at 6 and 7:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, and the championship game is slated for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28.
Time changes involve
locals in Area 5 event
Times for two weekend games in the Area 5 Middle School basketball tournament involving local teams have been changed.
Hillcrest and Paris Inman will play at 11:30 a.m., and top seed Lake Road will play the Ridgemont-Martin winner at 2:30 p.m.
Play begins tonight at 6 with Martin facing Ridgemont in girls’ action followed by LR and Hillcrest at 7:30 in the boys’ bracket.
Saturday, the boys’ will have SF and Ridgemont meeting at 10 a.m. and Inman waiting on the LR-Hillcrest winner at 1 p.m.
SF will play the Inman-Hillcrest winner 6 p.m. Monday in the girls’ tourney, followed by Martin meeting the SF-Ridgemont winner at 7:30 in boys’ action.
