About 750 Gibson Electric Membership Corp. members’ homes and businesses in the Lake Road and Woodland Mills areas were affected by a power outage Tuesday morning.
The outage began at 9:51 a.m. and was caused by high winds that snapped multiple poles, particularly in the Garrigan Road area.
Crews were immediately dispatched and restored service before noon to all but about 250 members in and around the Woodland Mills area. Crews continued to work diligently to complete service restoration, but the repairs were time intensive, according to GEMC vice president of human resources and communications Rita Alexander.
Service was finally restored to everyone at 3:45 p.m.
“We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the extended outage,” she added.
