Lois A. Rice, 77, of Jackson, Mich., a former resident of Union City, died at Allegiance Hospital in Jackson Jan. 15, 2012, after suffering a stroke late the previous evening.
Services will be at Vandercook Baptist Church, 703 East Mc-Devitt Ave. in Jackson at 11 a.m. Thursday. The family requests that contributions be made to Union City Baptist Temple.
Arrangements are being announced by Charles J. Burden & Son Funeral Home at 1806 East Michigan Ave. in Jackson.
While living in Union City, she worked at the former Central Elementary School cafeteria and at Hardee’s and volunteered as a “pink lady” at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. She also cleaned houses and attended Union City Baptist Temple, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and worked in the AWANA program. She was the church custodian for a number of years.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Rice.
Also surviving are four daughters, eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters; her brother; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
