Students in grades 2-12 who need extra support and practice in reading are encouraged to enroll in a local reading clinic sponsored by the University of Tennessee at Martin Office of Extended Campus and Online Studies.
Three enrollment sessions are available: A session which began Tuesday and runs through Feb. 13; Feb. 14 to March 19; and April 2 through April 26.
The reading clinic is a sequential and intensive reading improvement course taught by experienced reading professionals from the UT Martin Reading Center. Students will be individually tested to determine personal reading level and phonic comprehension before being placed in a level-specific course designed to build skills and fill gaps in reading strategies.
Students will attend one-hour classes twice a week on either a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule.
The second session will not meet Feb. 20 (make-up class will be Feb. 24) or March 5-8.
The cost is $100 per session plus $25 for a personal workbook.
To register, contact the Office of Extended Campus and Online Studies at (731) 881-7082. Your name and number will be given to the reading clinic program director, who will contact you to schedule a testing appointment.
