Elizabeth S. James, 97, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 6:45 a.m.  Jan. 16, 2012, at the Monmouth Nursing Home. She was the mother of Barbara Horner of Union City.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Inter-ment will be in Monmouth Cemetery.  
Friends may call an hour prior to the service at the funeral home, where her family will be present to receive friends.

She was born March 5, 1914, in the Roseville Township, Ill., daughter of the late George T. and Helen A. (Elliott) Brooks. She married F. Edward James Feb. 14, 1942, in Monmouth. He died Dec. 11, 1970.
She is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Judi James of Winchester, Ill., and Gary and Julia James of Naples, Fla.; her son-in-law, Dr. William Horner of Union City; 11 grandchildren and their spouses; Kathleen and Scott Jenkins, Kimberly and Jim Knecht, Karrie and PJ  Damerell, Krista and Abe Kunz, Lisa and Brent Callicott, Angela Ryan, Amy and Byron Holloway, Jim and Lisa Horner, John and Amy Horner, Joanna and Erik Ferguson and Jennifer and Ryan Young; and 27 great-grandchildren; Jacob Jenkins, Conner Jenkins, Kourtney Knecht, Jadie Knecht, Jesse Knecht, Kody Knecht, Alexa Dam-erell, Braden Damerell, Ashlyn Damerell, Whitney Kunz, Morgan Kunz, Luke Kunz, Alexis Ryan, Jacob Ryan, Olivia Ryan, Zachary Ryan, Gracyn Callicott, Brady Holloway, Madelyn Holloway, Andrew Horner, Macy Horner, Ethan Fer-guson, Grace Ferguson, Max Ferguson, Carlie Young, Isabella Young and Abby Young.
 She was also preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
