DPD investigates Sunday homicide
The Dresden Police Department is investigating a homicide, which reportedly took place Sunday evening at an apartment complex on Highway 118 inside the city limits of Dresden.
Dresden Police Chief Randal Walker said the victim, 44-year-old Lori Williams, was found dead in her apartment by friends.
Walker described Williams as a white female who lived alone at the complex located at 495 Highway 118.
She died from an apparent gunshot wound.
According to a press release issued by the City of Dresden Monday morning, the investigation continues and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 587-2611 or 1-877-364-8479.
“The Dresden Police Department and Chief Randal Walker are working diligently to solve this investigation and more information will be released in the near future. The incident occurred about 9 p.m. and the victim was female,” Dresden mayor Danny Forrester said Monday.
“This is a tragic situation and we are extremely concerned that something of this nature happened in our city. I am confident our department and Randal will get this matter resolved as soon as possible,” Forrester added.
Walker said the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Weakley County Sheriff’s Department were assisting with the case and there was a person of interest.
Williams’ body was sent to the medical examiner’s office in Memphis pending an autopsy. Walker said the department hoped to have preliminary results within a few days.
