A Union City woman accused of shooting her brother New Year’s Eve weekend has been arrested on an aggravated assault charge.
Antoinette Genise Nolan, 34, of 1916 Morningview Drive, Union City, surrendered herself to authorities Friday on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm, according to a Union City Police Department report.
The charge stems from the Dec. 30 shooting of Kevin S. Anderson, 25, of 305 West Gibbs St., Union City.
Anderson was critically injured in a late-night shooting incident that resulted in his being transferred to Regional Medical Center (the Med) in Memphis for treatment.
The night of the incident, police were called to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City at 11:45 p.m. in reference to a gunshot victim who was brought in by private vehicle. Police discovered Anderson had allegedly been shot in the face by his sister, Ms. Nolan, according to the police report.
Anderson was airlifted to the Memphis hospital and his condition was listed as critical at the time.
The shooting had remained under investigation since Dec. 30 and charges were not immediately levied against Ms. Nolan because she was hospitalized due to a separate incident the same weekend of the shooting.
According to an updated police report, Ms. Nolan came to the police station last week for an interview with an investigator and then turned herself in Friday morning at the Obion County Law Enforcement Complex.
The Dec. 30 shooting topped a list of calls that kept Union City police busy over the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day weekend. Other incidents included an arrest for weapons offenses after shots were allegedly fired from a vehicle, a fight at a local club and a purse-snatching incident at the Walmart Supercenter parking lot.
