|A murder investigation is continuing today in Dresden and Dresden Police Chief Randal Walker has planned a press conference for this afternoon to offer a status update in the case. |
The press conference is set for 3 p.m. at the Dresden Civic Center.
The homicide apparently took place Sunday evening at an apartment complex on Highway 118 inside the city limits of Dresden.
Walker said the victim, 44-year-old Lori Williams, was found dead in her apartment that night by friends.
He described Ms. Wil-liams as a white female who lived alone at the com-plex, located at 495 High-way 118. She died from an apparent gunshot wound.
Walker said the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Weakley County Sheriff’s Department are assisting with the case and there is a person of interest.
Ms. Williams’ body was sent to the medical examiner’s office in Memphis for autopsy. Walker said the department hopes to have preliminary results within a few days.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (731) 587-2611 or 1-877-364-8479. Tips leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect could lead to a reward up to $1,000. Tipsters remain anonymous. Published in The Messenger 1.17.12
