A Union City man was issued a citation for harboring a vicious animal after his daughter was bitten by the family dog.
Mark Eaves of 609 South Sixth St., Union City, was issued the citation after police responded to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City Friday morning in reference to a dog bite, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Eaves told police his 7-year-old daughter had been bitten by their family dog, an English Mastiff.
An officer reported he observed two small lacerations on the child’s left cheek. Eaves told police the dog was sitting beside him and was yawning when his daughter sat down beside the dog. The dog turned when the girl sat down and the dog’s teeth made contact with her face.
According to the report, the dog last had its rabies shots Nov. 22, 2011. It was taken to the local animal hospital for a required 10-day quarantine and Eaves was issued the citation.
