Update: Dresden homicide investigation continues, press conference planned

Dresden police are investigating an apparent murder that occurred at an apartment Sunday night.
Few details were being released this morning about the incident that occurred at an apartment complex on Highway 118 inside the Dresden city limits.
The victim, 44-year-old Lori Williams, was apparently found dead in her apartment by friends.

Walker said the victim was a white female who lived alone at the complex.

“The Dresden Police Department and Chief Randal Walker are working diligently to solve this investigation and more information will be released in the near future,” Dresden Mayor Danny Forrester said.

Walker added there was a person of interest in the case.

A press conference is planned for 3 p.m. today in the Dresden Civic Center.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Weakley County’s Crime Stoppers at (731) 587-2611 or 1-877-364-8479.
“This is a tragic situation and we are extremely concerned that something of this nature happened in our city. I am confident our department and Randal will get this matter resolved as soon as possible,” Forrester added.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Weakley County Sheriff’s Department are assisting in the investigation, according to Walker.
