Demetrie Pepper Posted: Monday, January 16, 2012 3:56 pm The Messenger, January 16, 2012 Demetrie (Calhoun) Pepper, 89, of Union City died Jan. 15, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Obion County Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Jimmy Calhoun officiating. The family will receive friends at White-Ranson Funeral Home from 11 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Tuesday. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family requests that memorials be made to Cobb’s Chapel Cemetery Association, in care of Mayme Denton, 3623 West Main St., Union City, TN 38261. She was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Obion County, daughter of the late Ira Frank and Iva Bell (Hickman) Calhoun. She married Charles Pepper Sept. 7, 1940. He died Sept. 27, 1993. She had been a distributor of the Memphis Commercial Appeal and was a member of Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Larry Parks of Union City; two granddaughters and the spouse of one, Heather and Chris Scinta of Franklin and Demetrie Listovitch of Murfreesboro; four grandsons and the spouses of two, Chuck and Anna Parks, Don and Brooke Parks and Ron Parks, all of Union City, and Christopher Pepper of New Mexico; her great-granddaughter, Tia Parks of Union City; and her great-grandson, Ben Spicer of Franklin. She was also preceded in death by her son, William Harrison Pepper; two brothers, James Calhoun and Frank Calhoun; three sisters, Ailene Woodard, Winnie Rice and Rebecca Fluty; and her grandson, Nicole Harrison Pepper.
