Virginia Louise Parrish

Virginia Louise Parrish, 99, of Martin died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today (Thursday) at East Side Cemetery in Martin with Bobby Hathcock officiating. Visitation will be at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Martin from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. today.
Bobbie Nethery, Clyde Miles, Max Walker, Emery Rooks, Daren McNatt and Noel Arant will serve as pallbearers.
She was born Sept. 29, 1912, in Martin and was the daughter of the late W. A. and Jervis Penn Parrish. She attended Hall-Moody grade school, Martin Elementary and Martin High School, U. T. Jr. College and University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi. She was a 50 year member of Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an organization for women educators. She has been a member of Central Baptist Church since the year of its organization. Her 43 years of teaching were in Houston County, Tennessee, San Antonio, Texas and Martin.
Survivors include one sister, Mildred Leeman of Jackson; three nephews, Lynn Hall Leeman, Greg Parrish and Dennis Christopher; great-nephews and great-nieces.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, William Haze Parrish; one sister, Mary Lee Christopher; and two nephews, Blake Norman Christopher and Wayne H. Christopher.
