Greenfield City Recorder Randy Potts

Randy Potts, city recorder for the City of Greenfield, has been awarded the International Institute of Municipal Clerks’ designation of Certified Municipal Clerk in December.
Founded in 1947, the IIMC states in its mission statement that they are a professional, nonprofit association that promotes continuing education and certification through university and college-based institutes and provides networking solutions, services and benefits to its members worldwide.
The IIMC grants the CMC designation only to those municipal clerks who complete demanding educational requirements and have a record of significant contributions to their local government, their community and state.
Potts is a 1987 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin and has been employed at the City of Greenfield for almost 24 years.
“I was excited because it is a very prestigious award.” said Potts, who calls the award the “granddaddy” of clerical awards from a professional organization.
Potts is currently working on becoming a certified municipal finance officer, what he claims would be another great personal achievement.
