The Mason Hall Family and Community Education Club met recently.
President Frances Allen welcomed visitors Lori Littleton and Lilly McCaig. There was no hostess and the meal was potluck with 17 women and four men members, four visitors and Obion County Extension agent Benita Giffin present.
After recitation of the club creed and the Pledge of Allegiance, Mrs. Allen read the “Thought for the Day” — “Always think ….you can and you will and you WILL accomplish so much MORE in your lifetime.”
Betty Jo Luton’s devotional theme was “Our Way Why Question” by Mary Jane Whorton. She read from Joshua 1:9. “We ask for answers and he gives us God.” She asked for prayer requests and closed in prayer.
Roll call was answered with members telling what their biggest goal is for 2012.
It was noted some members visited Dyer Nursing Home and attended the celebration of Bonnie Dodd’s 101st birthday.
One social service was reported from Kenton for the family of Dot Lane.
Members reported a good day with 14 attending the luncheon with Teresa Vinson at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Mrs. Allen read the club reminders and presented a long list of projects for the coming year. A motion was made by Pat Hurt to accept the slate of projects for 2012. The motion was seconded by Mary Davis and all voted to accept. Quilters will start quilting at the center on Jan. 16.
The good neighbor report was collected. Hostesses for each month were assigned and yearly dues were paid.
Mrs. Giffin presented a program on falls and fractures and distributed the Top Health “Health Promotion and Wellness” newsletter.
