Dresden Duplicate Club met Dec. 28, 2011, for their last game of 2011, and it is looking forward to the beginning of a new year to try their art and playing of the intricate and challenging game of bridge.
With out of town guests still visiting and sickness prevailing, we had a smaller game than usual, but those who attended had a wonderful time greeting some new players from Paducah and Hickman.
All of the charming players agreed that bridge is more than a pastime.
Players return to the tables time after time again for the mental challenge, the competition, and the company of others who share their love of the world’s greatest card game.
David Whitlock of Paducah, Ky., was a new guest that day playing with partner Dianna Nerren. Another guest, Donna Carol Howell of Hickman, Ky., joined Jo Grissom for this great game of bridge.
Our snacks for the afternoon were lots of candy and cookies, macaroons, Royal Dansk wafers, kettle-roasted nuts, cheese pecan ball, cheese sticks and a tray of fruits.
A great time was had by all. Winners were: 1st – Bob Sanner, Union City and Toni Pritchett; 2nd – Donna Carol Howell, Jo Grissom, both of Hickman and 3rd – Sarah Ann Pentecost and Tom Beard, both of Dresden.
