Betty Jo (Cloar) Smith, 83, of Union City died 1:06 a.m. Jan. 5, 2012, at her home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Dr. Cecil Sewell and the Rev. Jason Sipes will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be John H. Smith, Chuck Everett, Calvin K. Watts, Damon Bryant, Johnny Kirk, Tommy Underwood, Matt Elks and Bobby Elks.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 500 East Church Street, Union City, TN 38261; or West Hickman Baptist Church, 1003 Broadway, Hickman, KY 42050.
She was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Union City, daughter of the late Herman and Jennie (Campbell) Cloar. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Union City and the 49ers Senior group at the church.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Obion County Senior Citizens and was a retired employee of the former Brown Shoe Company.
Ms. Smith is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Paula Smith of Union City and John H. and Joyce Smith of the Jordan community; her sister, Francis Watts of Union City; six grandchildren, Michael Shane Smith of Mayfield, Ky., Michelle Elks of Wingo, Ky., Bobby Elks and Matt Elks, both of Nashville, and Tiffany Byars and Jamie Byars, both of Union City; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Madge Wilson and Bessie Rose; and two brothers, David Cloar and Glenn Cloar.
