FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — A former Kentucky State University student who set fire to a dorm room has been denied an early release from jail after serving half of her 180-day sentence.
Prosecutors say Juanisha Feliciano of Erie, Pa., started a fire in Chandler Hall because she was mad at another girl.
The State Journal in Frankfort reports that Feliciano’s attorney entered the motion for shock probation on Friday because Feliciano was accepted to nursing school.
Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd said in his ruling that people’s lives were at risk when the fire broke out. The fire sent one female student to the hospital.
Feliciano, 19, was sentenced to 180 days for second-degree wanton endangerment as part of a plea agreement.
She is due to be released in March.
