Dresden Duplicate had two exciting Christmas parties this past week. On Tuesday night, the Dresden Dolls met first at the Kountry Korner that smelled of delicious Christmas chicken and dressing with all the trimmings
It was their knowledge this would be the “kick off” for the Christmas season.
Toni, the director, had planned to treat the duplicate players to a wonderful meal before going on to American Legion building for their fun-filled game of “serious” bridge. We had a special guest, Jo Grissom, from Hickman, Ky, and Jo, with her keen wit and humor, added much to our party.
Gifts were exchanged and the group presented the director with a lovely gift certificate to Headquarters for pedicures or manicures. It was welcomed gleefully.
Winners for this game were 1st, JoAnn Campbell and Kathy Chandler, Dresden, and tied for 2nd were Margie Evans and Dianna Nerren of Hickman and South Fulton and Bertha Henry, Martin, and Jane Young, Dresden.
After receiving their gifts of Christmas hors d’oeuvre trays and Christmas towels, they departed to be back on the second Tuesday in January.
On Wednesday at 11:15 a.m., the Wednesday bridge group met at Richie and Reggie’s Barbecue Restaurant.
Mr. Richie and associate Dawn presented an outstanding buffet of fried chicken, barbecue, buns, potato salad, green beans and his perfected slaw and drinks of our choice and a special peach cobbler.
The group of 21 really enjoyed the special occasion. Jack Bogue from Milan and his wife attended. We welcomed Jack who has been out for some time due to some medical treatments. After the outstanding meal, we retired to the American Legion building and had a five-table Mitchell game with N/S and E/W winners.
And the winners were 1st N/S Sue Thompson and Toni Pritchett, 2nd N/S Lois Harbour and Minnie Bess Williams. First E/W went to Jackye Hohman and Carol Ehlers and 2nd E/W Ruthie Jenkins and Carolyn Rogers. This group will convene on Dec. 28 for the last game of the year.
