Butler is ‘Madness’ winner

UT Martin sophomore guard Heather Butler has been named College Sports Madness’ Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her recent effort against Evansville and Southern Illinois.
Butler averaged 23.5 points in the games as the Skyhawks claimed back-to-back victories.
Butler also averaged five rebounds, three assists and three steals in the two games. She shot 40 percent (6-of-15) from beyond the arc. With the six 3-pointers, she moved from No. 8 to No. 3 for most 3-pointers made in a career at UT Martin.
She also added two games to her consecutive streak (42) with double-digit points. She scored 22 points against Evansville and 25 points against Southern Illinois.
This is the second time this season Butler has earned College Sports Madness’ OVC Player of the Week.
The Madness identifies the highest impact players nationally and one from each conference in its weekly feature. Published in The WCP 12.20.11
