Each year Murray State’s listener supported public radio service WKMS broadcasts a series of special music and storytelling programs for the holidays with over 30 hours of radio features not broadcast elsewhere on the dial in this region. This Company for the Holidays series continues through New Year’s Day. Features airing through Sunday include:
Thursday
• Noon – Hanukkah Lights 2011 – Hanukkah Lights features stories and memoirs written by acclaimed authors expressly for the show and read by Susan Stamberg and Murray Horwitz.
Sunday
• 9 a.m. – A Season of Remembrance with Mike Freeland – World War II combat medic Mike Freeland shares an hour of Jazz and memories of the season. Sponsored in part by Hughes Funeral Home, Paducah.
• 7 p.m. – PSO: Home for Christmas – Celebrate the holidays with this exciting performance by the Paducah Symphony Orchestra featuring the voices of the PSO Choruses under the direction of Bradley Almquist and Amy Aucoin. Sponsored in part by Paducah Area Painter’s Alliance Gallery. This program repeats on HD-2 Monday at 9 a.m., Dec. 21 at noon and Dec. 23 at 7 p.m.
• 9 p.m. – Classical Encore Christmas Part 1 – Musician and educator John Dressler presents two hours of great seasonal classical music.
