VanAyer salutes local veterans

The staff at VanAyer was proud to salute local veterans, both past and present, on Veterans Day. Dr. Kenneth Carr (center), the medical director, served in Vietnam 1969-70 as a 1st lieutenant, chemical corp, HHC 1st Brigade, 1st Air Cavalry Division. He received the Bronze Star, two Army commendation medals, five Air medals, the Vietnam Service ribbon and a presidential unit citation. He was also an expert flame thrower. Will Call (back, right) VanAyer maintenance supervisor, also served in the U.S. Army, Airborne Special Forces and Air Assault. He is an expert marksman. VanAyer also honored many of the residents who are veterans. VanAyer appreciates the help of community members who made the tribute possible, including Woodmen of the World Dresden’s Wendell Verdell for the contribution of 50 flags, Dollar General of Sharon for the flags and red, white and blue ribbons and Coca-Cola of Union City for the banner.
