Sunday, Dec. 18 and Dec. 28
Church Christmas program in Murray
The celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ can be heard through the music ministry of Poplar Spring Baptist Church this December. On the night of Dec. 11, the pre-school choir will present selections from “My Bestest Friend” and will be followed by the children’s choir performing the musical, “The Mystery of the Manger” written and arranged by Celeste and David Clydesdale. Children’s directors Stacy Arnold and Kim Evans are excited about these talented children who must convince a visiting newspaper reporter of the importance of the birth of Jesus within this musical drama.
On the night of Dec. 18, the adult choir will present “Light Looked Down” arranged by Marty Parks. This beautiful collection of songs, carols and drama serves to remind people that God sent Jesus to be an extraordinary presence in life, no matter how anyone might feel in his or her heart.
Finally, on the night of Dec. 28, the youth choir will sing selections from “Celebrate the Day” created by Jonathan Crumpton and Luke Gambill. This modern praise and worship musical for Christmas relates a message of relationship with Jesus for every day of the year and especially during the Christmas holidays. Songs like “I Will Follow” and “Light of the World” are arranged along with contemporary versions of beloved traditional carols.
The children’s and adult musicals will begin at 6 p.m. on their respective Sunday nights.
The youth service will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Poplar Spring Baptist Church is located just east of Murray about five miles within the Pottertown community at 749 Poplar Springs Drive.
No admission charge or ticket is necessary for any performance.
